Jalgos Past to Present
Jalgos is a members only multicultural sports and social club originally founded in 1962 by a few West indian lads in a house on London Road Preston. It was through their love of Cricket that Jalgos came into being.
Their first home was a rented room at St Peters Club on Fylde Road, members also utilised Arkwright House on Stoneygate and Foxton youth Centre for dances and fundraising activities. Central Methodist Church on Lune Street also played a huge part in the fundraising activities for the club by holding Bring and Buy sales that were organised by Mr John Daley and other members of the community with the help of Rev. Ron Marshall and Councellor Bunker and were held in the basement of the church. It was these bring and buy sales that paved the way for the club to purchase their home on Rose Street in 1976 from the Hibernian Club.
Jalgos has a spectacular trophy cabinet filled with trophies from Cricket, Dart, Dominoes as well as the accolades from twice Preston Carnival winner Isles of Harmony.
